SOLC 2016 20/31: My Illustrated Haiku

Today I join my fellow bloggers in "serving up a slice"
to the Slice of Life (SOL) community.
Thanks to Stacey, Tara, Betsy, Dana, Beth, and Anna
for hosting this meeting place each day in March
and for nurturing our writing lives.

A quick backstory for today's illustrated haiku - would that be an illuku or a haistration?  I'm  almost finished with a four day sprint subbing in Emily's classroom who teams with Bruce.  As we plucked up bits of left behind trash on Thursday,  Bruce gifted me this reused card (fyi: my first name is Ramona).

Trash from Thursday's floor

My notebook treasure!

  1. I love your combination of haiku and illustration to create a new word. You just never know where a slice will appear, like on the floor in the trash.

  2. The slices can come from anywhere, really. I love that your slice comes from "left behind trash"!

  5. What creative inspiration! I love your combo of found pieces with inspired words to match. It shows how thoughts can be generated from all sorts of sources and turned into writing pieces.

  6. Love the new words. Oh I wish I still had some of those old library search cards.

  7. I love this--and I LOVED Beverly Cleary as a child! (Though "Beezus and Ramona" was my personal favorite.) Thank you for this great moment.

  8. I just loved this: illustrated haiku - would that be an illuku or a haistration. Pretty clever! And the card from the card catalog! Bruce is a funny guy, isn't he? I loved the way you tied your haiku into to both picture prompts!
P.S. My copy of Sketches from a Spy Tree arrived. I can't wait to read it! :)
