Celebrate This Week: Irene Latham's Visit, October, & Poetry Camp

Join us each weekend for Celebrate This Week with Ruth Ayres.
When we pause to celebrate, we find the joy.
Discover. Play. Build.
A week filled with moments to celebrate and remember.

1.  Irene Latham's Visit!
So much joy squeezed into 25 hours!
Lunch at Pike Place Market
Meeting Irene's friend, Sarah
A stop at Island Books
School library meet and greet
A stop by our public library
Sharing pocket parks, a sunset, and bench time together
A shared picture book read aloud
IMS and two morning presentations to 6th graders
Special meeting with members of Books, Brownies, & Beyond
Lunch and a jigsaw path to Irene's afternoon carpool connection

2.  October themed wrappers for Babybel cheese
and an Island Books window celebrating October
(one of my favorite months of the year)!
Listen! The wind is
rising and the air
is wild with leaves.
We have had our
summer evenings, now
for October eves!
-Humbert Wolfe

3.  Poetry Camp in Bellingham on Saturday!
Early arrival and an informal "pre-conference" session
with Brod Bagert, Kathi Appelt, Carmen T. Bernier Grand,
and new poetry friends, Tammy and Leonie.
Brad serenaded us with songs and recited poems.
My favorite:  "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening."
I hope he'll do a You Tube video.
Everyone should hear his soulful recitation of this Frost poem.
Watch for more details about poetry camp in a future blog post.

    1. Linda, they mentioned that it might become an annual event. If so, I would love for you to come next time and we can spend some time together before or after the event.

  2. Hello again Ramona, who saved my life more than once in the past week! :) I love those babybels, and how perfectly apt, our "jigsaw" path to Leonie's. What a great week for me, in so many ways thanks to YOU. I would have liked more time at Island Books! NEXT time.... xo

  3. Ramona, there are so many wonderful celebrations in this short post. Poetry Camp must have been filled with moments to savor. I heard Brod years ago at #ILA and he is a delightful poet. I have one of his poetry books that I used in my reading class for years. I love the October poem so I am capturing the store set-up and poem for the fall gallery that will announced soon after I unveil Summerscapes this week.
