Slice of Life: Transitioning from Christmas to Winter Decorations!

Today I join my fellow bloggers in "serving up a slice"
to the Tuesday Slice of Life (SOL) community.
Thanks to Stacey, Betsy, Dana, Beth, Kathleen, Deb, Lisa, and Melanie
for hosting this meeting place each Tuesday and nurturing our writing lives.

I am not a woman who transitions easily from December to the New Year.  I'm never ready to put away the Christmas decorations.  So some years ago, I convinced myself to embrace snowmen and winter themed decor in January.  This decor eases my transition into the new year.  Most of the Christmas decorations are put away, but my snowmen are scattered around the house
bestowing winter cheer!

My January Cheer
(with apologies to "My Favorite Things")
When the day's gray
When the rain pours
When I'm feeling sad
I'm simply surrounded by snowman decor
And then I don't feel so bad!

  2. I am trying to transition to winter snowmen too, Ramona, but it is a slow go since my household is infected by the acute sinusitis infection. Stay warm.

  3. I always say once the Christmas decorations are down and family is gone...it is just winter! The only good thing about January is my birthday and that isn't much better! Love your snowmen, especially your books! Today it is gray and raining, maybe I need to snuggle up with a snowman!

  6. This is a great way to extend your enjoyment of something you love. I tend to keep white lights up and on all year round because I enjoy them so much. Love your collection of snowmen!

  7. Oh, I love your bookshelves! And it makes me happy that picture books can stay part of life after retirement!

  9. What an amazing idea!!! I just posted how we still have our Christmas Tree up and I don't want to take it down. I'm going to have to start investing in men, snowmen that is. :)

  10. I think we have kindred spirits! I always keep my snowmen out when I put away the rest of my Christmas decorations. Sometimes they are still out when I get out hearts in February. Here's a snowman story I wrote that you might like http://alicenine.net/mr-snowman/ Love your "January Cheer" song !!

  11. I have a bunch of snowmen, too, Ramona, never thought of leaving them out after Christmas. Maybe next year! You need to find and read Tony Johnston's Winter Is Coming-another awesome winter book. Glad to see yours!
