Spiritual Journey Thursday: Scriptures, Songs, and a Story!

I love that we are counseled to have a merry heart in scripture:

" . . . let thine heart be merry . . . "
- 1 Kings 21:7
" . . . he sent the people away into their tents, glad and merry in heart . . . " 
- 2 Chronicles 7:10
"A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance; . . . "
- Proverbs 15:13
"A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: . . . "
- Proverbs 17:22

I have been buoyed and lifted by the creative efforts of so many, but here are two of my favorite parodies that bring a merry heart every time I listen:

On March 16th, I had three things to accomplish, get my new bridge (I had already lived with the temporary bridge for three weeks since my dentist left town just as the permanent bridge was ready), get my car repaired, and get a haircut. I seriously considered cancelling the car repair, but I forged ahead with plenty of disinfectant wipes to clean my car religiously afterwards. That stop brought me this story that I sliced about on the day it happened and which still warms my heart.

    Seeing those verses, I’m thinking I will put them on a card and put it on my bathroom mirror to remind me to smile and praise God for the wisdom in His Word.
    And that family’s video is great!

    Alas ... here go all the hair appointments! My stylist said that some of her clients have told her they will go without eating before they'll go without their hair appointments ... yikes ... if nothing else, COVID-19 is making us reevaluate our priorities. The Superbadtransmittable... virus parody is too funny - will share. Your perspective is always like the sun shining in, Ramona - thank you for the laughter and merriness today. :)

    Humor helps. My brother is an out of work musician so he is spending time making parody videos. His latest includes my grandsons and my parents waving from the balcony at their retirement home. I was planning to visit them for Easter. Now we talk and Facetime. That's the hardest part, not being with the ones I love.

    Love this post. I laughed so hard with those videos and it felt so good. My husband even laughed alongside me and then I thought that there has not been the sound of laughter inmy house for a long time. The virus is really getting to my husband. Today it was sunny so my Son, Derek, and I took a walk down past the elementary and high school he attended so many years ago. Thanks for the scripture versus, too.

    I am so distracted by no letter y in the post. And then I looked at earlier posts of yours and still no y. Is it just my computer? The comments and titles and side navigation have y. I am having difficulty with 9 on my page. Here it is showing up to me as a dash, but when I publish the nine will be there. Trying to determine if it's me and my computer or Blogger.

    I finally got back here! I wanted to read your story about the best laid plans. Beautiful story! I am always fascinated by where life's little changes can take us!
