This year I decided to write the things I'm grateful for on a pumpkin. I saw the idea on Face Book and decided it was a fun way to mark the days of November. It's harder than it looks to keep the writing uniform and readable. And it takes a long time to fill a pumpkin which is a good thing. Because the longer you look for blessings, the more of them you discover and remember. I'm grateful for this spark of joy that keeps me grateful and smiling through the rainy days of November.
I planned to include a list of everything on my pumpkin. But right now, my book, Echo's Mountain (Lauren Wolk), is calling me. Sorry, but I'd rather read than replicate my list. I may be back later with the list. I'm up to 75 items now and the pumpkin still has room on it and it's a small pumpkin too! I definitely will write larger if I ever do this again!
Oh, I love this! What a beautiful idea. I can see a few words on your pumpkin. Gratitude is such a beautiful and wonderful starting place. I find that when I'm driving by myself in the car, I enjoy naming things I'm thankful for. Maybe I can cover my mini-van? That's a lot of grateful :)

ReplyDeleteI want to do a gratitude pumpkin, Ramona! Yours is so beautiful. I saw one recently on social media, too. Almost did it today, but I thought I'd wait and maybe let my family write something over the holiday - I'd really love to see what my 4-year-old granddaughter would write, and what she's grateful for. Also smiling that you're "done" so that you can resume reading your good book.

I had never heard of this idea, and I love it! I want to do this next year! Maybe I can come up with some way to do this for Christmas. I also love that you wrote a short post so you could read--I'm going to check out that book! Thank you so much for sharing this whole post.
