It was fun to live my week thinking about what I would celebrate on Saturday!
Mid-trimester was a week filled with catching up (after my quick trip to New York), grading papers, and contacting parents regarding student progress. Each time I contacted a parent, I received a thoughtful, supportive response in return. I name my classes each year, and this year's students are the Superstars. Their parents deserve the same title. I'm thrilled to share a year in the life of their child with each of them. I received a perfect fall treat from a student who explained that he and his mom had baked this delicious pumpkin dessert. I enjoyed the first slice and fully intended to share the second slice with my husband that evening. I left it at school. The next day when I returned from lunch wishing I had something sweet, I remembered this creamy pumpkin treat in the closet. Finally, our entire staff enjoyed a Spooktacular lunch this week provided by our PTSA. I loved the food, the decorations, and seeing friends who seldom join us in the staff lounge for lunch.
Check out these smiles!
Thanks to our wonderful team of parents for this delicious lunch and fun decorations!
Schools that have great parents are so blessed. Our parents also brought in lunch this week for parent-teacher conferences. They are a reason to celebrate.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to hear a story of great parents! We have some great parents at my school also, but it's my principal that provides dinner on conference night!
ReplyDeleteI too could celebrate my great parents! I had a volunteer pay my library fines AND bring me a homemade apple crisp! I am blessed!
ReplyDeleteGreat parents you have there! Treats, lunch. That's something to celebrate
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you have a great set of parents to go with a great set of kids this year. Pumpkin treats are always something to celebrate. I love this time of year when you can get pumpkin everything.
ReplyDeleteWe feel taken care of by our parents too, Ramona. What a good thing to celebrate, and that you have supportive parents. I'm so happy you had a good week!
ReplyDeleteHow great to have parents that provide meals for you. That doesn't happen in urban schools!
ReplyDeleteI can join you in your celebration of great parents. For the whole staff, the PTA organized a teacher day breakfast to show their appreciation. My class parents make me smile all the time.
ReplyDeleteSuch a busy time, which makes you so grateful for the kindness of the parents. Mmmm, I'm enjoying the taste of pumpkin too. It always tastes better in the fall when temperatures have cooled a bit.
ReplyDeleteSupport from parents is no small blessing--support in the form of a tasty treats is even better!
ReplyDeleteRamona,
ReplyDeleteThe parents of your students sound wonderful. It's always helpful and refreshing to have time to talk with them. I learn so much from what parents know about their children. Like you, I'm fortunate to be working with an amazing bunch of parents this year. They're worth celebrating!

Food + awesome parents = a great reason to celebrate. I wish I could join you around a table of fall food and decorations. I'm glad you celebrated this week.
ReplyDeleteShine on,
