SOL 6/31 & Poetry Friday: Fifteen Years Ago

A recent prompt from my writing group asked us to look at our camera roll from ten years ago and select a photo as a writing prompt. I decided to use this idea beginning with my first year of participating in the slice of life writing challenge in 2012 and limiting the photo choice to March of that year. Today's post does double duty with a haiku for Poetry Friday. Thanks to Karen for hosting and for her poem, "One Way to Live".

Rain kissed daffodils

Ebullient dancers of spring

Harbingers of hope

Thank you, Two Writing Teachers, for creating this challenge and providing the space and support for us year after year. And thanks to this magnificent community for sharing stories with me and encouraging my writing life.

  1. I can’t wait for the first blooms of spring. We haven’t even seen snowdrops yet. Your haiku is like more than a hope, it’s a promise for the spring to arrive. Terje

  3. Daffodils are such a welcome sign of spring. When I went out for the mail yesterday, I noticed that ours were up about an inch. Can't wait until they bloom. Bob

  5. Ooh -- I was reflecting on "harbingers of hope" just last week! Love it when "the universe calls"!
Might have to use that as a strike line now!

  10. I can hardly wait to see the daffodils and crocuses push through the cold earth. There is a place in Massachusetts where the woods are thick with yellow daffodils in the spring. I may have to get there this year. Thanks for the reminder of spring.

  11. It was such a gift to my future self (which is now my right-now self) when I planted all those bulbs last fall! Some of the new crocuses are blooming and lots of daffies are poking up through the mud.

  12. In my Michigan yard those harbingers of hope are just starting to poke their green blades up. Eagerly anticipating the dancers.
