Does this look like mid-winter to you?

Today I join my fellow bloggers in "serving up a slice"
to the Tuesday Slice of Life (SOL)  community.
Thanks to Stacey, Tara, Betsy, Dana, Beth, and Anna
for hosting this meeting place each Tuesday
and nurturing our writing lives.

I promised last week to blog about something other than the kitchen project.  So, I turn to our gorgeous weather.  I'm always super happy when our mid-winter break is not rainy. Not everyone in our community leaves town, and it's a treat for those of us who stay behind when we have blue skies and sunshine, and this year record-breaking temperatures.  We broke the record yesterday with a high of 58 and today is supposed to hit 60 degrees.  This has been an unusual winter, with not much cool weather.  I remember lots of years when I yearned for the temp to break 60 in May or June.  We saw the play, "Carousel," on Valentine's Day.  It's not June yet  (think "June is Busting Out All Over"), but these photos taken on my walks the past two days show how February is bursting out in blooms and the mountain is out, always cause for celebration in Seattle!

  1. Gorgeous photos! I had no idea that the trees and flowers blossomed in February in Seattle. As I sit here with a wind chill that makes it feel like 25, I envy your warmer temperatures.

  2. Those photographs make me jealous, Ramona! We are still in the deep freeze, here - but Spring won't be too far off once we get to the end of February.

  4. I am so jealous as I shovel snow here with temps in the teens. Better than single digit temps and sub zero wind chills we have had. Thanks for brightening my day.

  5. What beautiful photos. I'd be posting quite different pictures from Ohio. I'd be happy if we broke 20 degrees. LOL

  6. Oh so wonderful! We are 9 with a wind chill of 16 below. It is to get colder tonight. I will dream of your trees and flowers while under my layers of covers. We don't have the snow of the east coast - that was last year - we are just sitting in cold. Enjoy your spring walks!

  7. Wow! Those pictures are fabulous! The blossoms are so beautiful. I feel that we are so far from spring here on the East Coast.
Also, love how you thank Two Writing Teachers with the phrase "hosting this meeting place and nurturing our writing lives" - yes, TWT really does nurture all of us!

  8. I say Wow! too, Ramona. We've had very warm weather, so much so that people are worried that trees are waking up too early. What gorgeous pics, & I love your words, "the mountain is out", & how wonderful it is. Snow here yesterday, colder today, back to the fifties tomorrow-roller coaster! Enjoy your beauty!

  9. So cold in Iowa for a few more days - tired of single digits!

But your pictures make me think that spring will soon be here!

  10. GORGEOUS, Ramona! My feet are still trying to warm-up from my jaunt outside earlier this evening. It is just SO cold!

Thanks for joining us on the last night's Twitter Chat. It was great to have your voice in the convo.

  11. Okay Ramona so you are living a very different reality than I am and lots of Slicers on this side of the world. SO I want to thank you for sharing your slice of warmth with us and those lovely, colorful plants as well.
    I can barely remember spring.

    1. I agree, Jone, it's been a strange winter. I'm still hoping for some snow before the season ends.
