I recently discovered a new-to-me poem, "In the Company of Women" in How We Love the World: Poems of Gratitude and Hope edited by James Crew. Here are a few of my favorite lines that speak to the delight of hanging out with friends:
"Make my cup overflow
with your small happiness.
I want to hoot and snort and cackle and chuckle."
You can read "In the Company of Women" in its entirety at poets.org.

I love this poem! Oh, my goodness...must send to my sisters, STAT! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI have the book, too, Ramona, & gave copies to friends at Christmas. Thanks for the reminder about this poem, a "hoot and snort and cackle and chuckle" for sure! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ramona! I spent the evening with friends last night--both men and women--and there was much hooting, snorting, and cackling. I left rejuvenated!
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah! I've been digging into this book recently and this one made me chuckle.
ReplyDeleteRamona, this poem gave me incentive to enjoy the day and fill my life with joy. Thanks for sharing and bringing a bright spot into my life. We are scheduled for our Disney trip with the grands and the family this week. That will be joy unlimited.
ReplyDeleteI love that anthology. That you for the reminder of these words!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love this poem, Ramona! This anthology sounds like a book I need. Thanks for telling us about it.
ReplyDeleteAhh... I just finished the last poem of Crews' book (and ordered THE PATH OF KINDNESS). HOW TO LOVE THE WORLD filled my mornings last year. And "In the Company of Women" was a fave.
ReplyDelete"Let us take this joy to go." Yes! Let's!
