NPM 2018: A Sabbath Acrostic!

National Poetry Month 2018
"Give praise with friends near and far,
flinging words to the sky!"
- Amy Ludwig VanDerwater

Day one of
Every week brings
Light and
Inspiration as I
Give my
Heart again
To Him.

Sunday is one of my favorite days of the week. Last week, I attended church in Oklahoma with my brother and his family. I was filled with delight to be in the congregation where I grew up and to watch my nephew James with his children, Leah and Asher,  in the pew in front of me. My niece, Kara, taught the ladies' class. I celebrate being with family last week. I celebrate that today I was able to worship with my church family in Washington. And always I love the joy  that comes from worshipping and receiving light each week as I attend church. I wrote this "delight" (my OLW for this year) acrostic to celebrate the joy I feel each Sabbath day.

NPM 2018: A Golden Shovel Poem, Sabbath Musings

National Poetry Month 2018
"Give praise with friends near and far,
flinging words to the sky!"
- Amy Ludwig VanDerwater

Ever since I read Nikki Grimes book, One Last Word, I've been intrigued by the golden shovel poem. And this month, Mary Lee Hahn is writing a golden shovel poem every day from the quotes provided by her 30 students. So I decided that it was time to try my hand at a golden shovel poem. I chose a favorite line from Wendell Berry's poem, "The Peace of Wild Things."
"I come into the presence of still water."

Sabbath Musings

Each Sunday morning, I
celebrate the opportunity to come
before His presence with singing, to enter into
His gates with thanksgiving, to embrace the
fellowship of saints whose presence
and love inspire me to continue the walk of
faith as I seek to calm the worldly tumult, to be still.
Ever grateful for His living water.

SOLSC 19/31: Sunday Musings

Today I join my fellow bloggers in "serving up a slice"
to the Slice of Life (SOL) community.
Thanks to Stacey, Betsy, Beth, Kathleen, Deb, Lisa, Melanie, and Lanny
for hosting this meeting place each day in March
and for nurturing our writing lives.

Sunday

Glorious sunshine,
Children's voices,
Communion sweet.

Learning together,
Worshipping together,
Loving together.

An afternoon nap,
Calls with family,
A perfect Sunday!
