Today I join my fellow bloggers in "serving up a slice"
for hosting this meeting place each day in March
and for nurturing our writing lives.
I was in search of an idea, when along came Elisabeth of the dirigible plum's six word memoirs about slicing. I didn't stay true to the form since some of my lines overlap, but this is a poem of six word lines about what's swirling around in my head right now.
YEAR TWO OF RETIREMENT, STILL SCRAMBLING!
I warned husband. Tuesday is mine!
Blocked it out on sub calendar.
Then a friend needed immediate attention.
Missed email for meeting with neighbor
regarding new mailboxes, rescheduled for tomorrow.
Gorgeous day for walk with Karen.
Book, Brownies, and Beyond meets today.
We're moving March Book Madness brackets
to more visible spot in hallway.
Women's organization meets tonight, need time
to work on agenda and plans
for upcoming special event in April.
Called Debora to schedule Courtney's shower.
Yikes! If I slice today, now
is the time. What happened to
Tuesday, my day? Life came along!
Interesting how that goes - you think things will be quiet so you say yes to so many things. I have weeks like that and then weeks of quiet. I can't seem to find a balance to it either.
ReplyDeleteWow! You are busy!
ReplyDeleteThis could be a fun challenge - six words per line. Thanks for sharing!
I loved your poem and the way it was organized! It made me exhausted just reading it!! Hope you get your Tuesdays back!!
ReplyDeleteYou have a rich life, my friend - no place for boredom!
ReplyDeleteLoved your poem...I've been meaning to try 6-word memoirs. I just might have to give it a go! :)
ReplyDeleteP.S. You're one busy lady!

So busy, but yet you did find time to slip in a slice of a lady on the go. Hope you enjoyed all your activities today.
ReplyDeleteNo, it doesn't sound as if you are bored at all! Glad you had the nice weather to take a walk!
ReplyDeleteI don't think you would have it any other way! I love reading about your adventures so I hope you keep busy.
ReplyDeleteYou sound busier now than when you were working full time! Love your poem!
ReplyDeleteLife tends to creep up like that -- watch out! You're so cute! Thanks for sharing your poem! Jennifer Sniadecki
ReplyDelete"what's swirling around in my head" -- I know that feeling! Maybe slicing, writing a poem with only 6 words per line, and keeping a bullet journal could all be the same. Just a thought. Maybe next Tuesday.. :)
