What do all these items share in common?
But I digress, back to the photo. When I scanned the poetry shelf in the children's section, I couldn't resist the lure of a new poetry book. Yes, that is the back of it you're seeing. Stop by tomorrow for Poetry Friday/Slice of Life for a pic of the front cover and my review.
As I headed for the checkout counter, I stopped to scan the nonfiction books. I like to tell my book group that I don't like nonfiction (most of them love it), but I adore memoir. And if I'm totally honest, perhaps because of their influence, I like nonfiction more than I used to. The Unwinding of the Miracle leaped off the table and into my hands. So I found myself purchasing two books I hadn't planned on and placing an order for the one I'd come to purchase.
And then I headed out the door. But as I reached my car, I remembered the chocolate I forgot to purchase. And so I headed back into the store to purchase my favorites, Chocolate Salted Caramels, from Island Treats (another local business). Because everyone knows that good chocolates and good books belong together!
Your slice shows how much you LOVE books and especailly buying them (and treats) from this favorite store. Reading it brought back that feeling I love of being lost in a bookstore, finding new books that you just must take home with you! You capture visiting the bookstore so well!
ReplyDeleteI think it's only right to support your local indie right now! You definitely did your civic duty by buying extra books! I need to establish a relationship with an indie that will ship to me so that I can do my part to support indies too. All of these books look wonderful BTW.
ReplyDeleteLove the books you bought. Let me know what you think of The Unwinding of a Miracle. It looks good but I have so many books unread right now I told myself I could not get another for awhile. Enjoy reading with your chocolate!
ReplyDeleteYou are lucky you have an open, Indie to support these days! Around here, they are closed for now...and I worry they may not be able to hang on to reopen. I'm a big fan and so appreciate their suggestions = as well as yours!
ReplyDeleteRamona, you are a treasure! Thank you for taking DICTIONARY home with you... and for supporting indie booksellers. I wouldn't mind one of those chocolate salted caramels... xo
