SOL 19/31: The Post I Meant to Write Yesterday . . .

What do all these items share in common?

They are the results of my latest visit (I refuse to use the word "last") to my local indie, Island Books on Saturday. I went in search of Dictionary for a Better World.  Lillian and I looked all over the store for it because the computer showed they had two copies. Our search was not rewarded. So I placed an order. It arrived on Tuesday. I plan to take advantage today of the local delivery that is now part of the business model for Island Books, our local indie bookstore, trying to succeed in our new normal. 

But I digress, back to the photo. When I scanned the poetry shelf in the children's section, I couldn't resist the lure of a new poetry book. Yes, that is the back of it you're seeing. Stop by tomorrow for Poetry Friday/Slice of Life for a pic of the front cover and my review.  

As I headed for the checkout counter, I stopped to scan the nonfiction books. I like to tell my book group that I don't like nonfiction (most of them love it), but I adore memoir. And if I'm totally honest, perhaps because of their influence, I like nonfiction more than I used to. The Unwinding of the Miracle leaped off the table and into my hands. So I found myself purchasing two books I hadn't planned on and placing an order for the one I'd come to purchase. 

And then I headed out the door. But as I reached my car, I remembered the chocolate I forgot to purchase. And so I headed back into the store to purchase my favorites, Chocolate Salted Caramels, from Island Treats (another local business). Because everyone knows that good chocolates and good books belong together!
